Another new home design has been on the cards, if you'll excuse the expression, for a long while but, finally, it's on paper and stitched.

I like the idea of the background 'watermark', used in the big number birthday design amongst others; it gives depth and texture. In this new home sampler, with the thought that 'home is where the heart is' the background texture is a repeating pattern of hearts which, in the new home, becomes warm and colourful. The house is a home, however new, when love is there.

The simplicity of the house motif is also reflected in the style of the lettering. It occurs to me as I write this that you might like to use the phrase 'first home' rather than  'new home' - just add it to your comments or email and it can be charted.

It is stitched on white 28 count cashel linen, using DMC threads and a gold needle. Aida is also an option for this design.
